Questions about this product

What is the most durable upholstery fabric?

The most resilient upholstery fabrics include dense woven fabrics, microfibre and good-quality synthetic velvets and plushes. Their Martindale test results often exceed 100,000 cycles, and some materials even reach over 140,000. Woven fabrics cope well with heavy use, microfibre is easy to care for, and modern velvets often have a hydrophobic coating that makes it harder for liquids to soak in.

What types of upholstery fabric are there?

The most frequently chosen upholstery fabrics include woven fabrics, velvets and chenilles. Woven fabrics have a distinct weave, are hard-wearing and breathable. Velvets and velveteens delight with their softness, easy care and rich colour. Chenille has a thick, fluffy texture and high resistance to everyday use.

What is the best material for a sofa?

Velvet, tightly woven fabric and microfibre work well for sofa upholstery, combining high durability with easy care. Velvet is soft and elegant, and its hydrophobic finish can limit liquids soaking in. Woven fabric is resistant to abrasion and everyday use, while microfibre is easy to clean and practical in homes with children.

What are the properties of Toro fabric?

Toro is an innovative upholstery fabric that combines the properties of chenille and bouclé. The material is pleasant to the touch, flame-retardant and highly abrasion-resistant, achieving 80,000 Martindale cycles. It also stands out for its pilling resistance and colours that stay fast despite exposure to light and rubbing.

What kind of upholstery fabric is Toro?

Toro fabric is a hard-wearing upholstery material made of 100% polyester, combining the properties of bouclé and chenille. It has a soft, fluffy texture with distinct loops and a weight of around 375–400 g/m².

What is the most fashionable upholstery fabric?

Bouclé, velvet, corduroy and nubuck are very popular among fashionable upholstery fabrics. Bouclé makes a room cosier thanks to its soft, looped texture, while velvet and velveteen stand out for their velvety finish with a subtle sheen. Corduroy has pronounced ribs, while nubuck has a matt, soft, suede-like surface.

Is chenille a good material?

Chenille is an elegant, soft and resilient material used both to upholster sofas and armchairs and to make curtains. The name of the fabric comes from the French word ‘chenille’, meaning caterpillar, and refers to the fluffy structure of its fibres.

Which is better, velvet or chenille?

The choice between chenille and velvet depends on the style you want and how it will be used. Chenille is soft, matt and pleasant to the touch, but can collect crumbs and pill over time. Velvet looks more elegant thanks to its smooth surface and subtle sheen, but handprints, pressure marks and pet hair show more easily.
